Huffington Post writes today that the New York City wants to become the wedding destination for couples to be.
"Mayor Michael Bloomberg has given City Hall's famously gritty marriage bureau a gleaming makeover, with fewer lines, more space to take photographs, video screens to monitor wait times and wedding chapels with gauzy curtains and walls painted in muted tones."Getting married can be a stressful to begin with but kudos for NYC for making it a more pleasant experience. Many years ago my friend Laurie Sue Brockway got married in City Hall. The experience was interesting and required a sense of humor. At the time it was a gray and dismal room where you walked in one door single and out another door married. The marrying clerk barely noticed you.
You may decide to keep the ceremony simple or extravagant but make sure it honors your deepest desire for your life together.
I enjoy doing simple ceremonies for couples. The intimacy of small service can't be beat.
